Introduction

I have set up this site as a means to share my photographs of lighthouses. Since retiring and finding more time to study photography, my interests have expanded a little. For some of my work other than lighthouses please enjoy my Facebook page at, John Shaw Photography. Come visit, enjoy, and 'LIKE' if you wish.

Also, for your enjoyment, I have provided a slideshow of our journey. To view it please use the link on the right under 'Site Navigation Tools'.

I sincerely hope you enjoy my efforts and use my site not only for information and education but also to provide directions for many enjoyable, inspirational visits to the beacons along our beautiful coas.

Reorganization

East Quoddy Head Lighthouse
Recently I reorganized this site by adding "Site Navigation Tools" located at the top of the right hand information bar.  The tools include a tool that will activate "Dynamic Views", a different way of viewing and searching through the site.  Once there click on "Sidebar", "Flip Card", "Mosaic", "Snapshot", or "Time Slide" located at the upper right of the page. Please experiment with it and enjoy!
Next you will find a "Maine Lighthouses Index" that will display a photo of each of the forty eight lighthouses we visited.  Click on the photo title and you will be taken directly to that post.  From there, you can connect to any other posts that relate to it.
Following you will find two separate tools that will take you to either "Endless Summer Flower Gardens"  or "Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens".  Once there, you can progressively navigate through all of the posts on that topic.
These tools should make it much easier to find the posts that interest you without having to hunt through the archives one month at a time.
I sincerely hope that you enjoy your visit and find it helpful in researching information or finding directions to some of Maine's top scenic vistas.  If you do, I would ask you to consider sharing this site through e-mail, on Facebook, or on Twitter.  You can find tools to do that at the top left of the site or in the lower part of the right hand information bar.  Thank you for supporting my efforts at sharing my work.
I promise you that my posts will not stop here.  Next I will be starting a series of posts on, "Random Lighthouses from "Away"".  Furthermore, I will continue to post entries on flowers and wildlife.  If you choose you can follow this site though Google Friends of by e-mail.  If you choose the popular e-mail option, you will be notified with each new post.  You will  find these options once again in the lower part of the right hand information bar.

Thank you for visiting, "MAINE LIGHTHOUSES & BEYOND"

Maine Lighthouses Index

Now that we have completed our journey down the Maine coast visiting as many lighthouses as we can, I thought that my blog would benefit from a "Maine Lighthouse Index" where visitors could access any lighthouse of their choice.  Following is just that.  All you have to do is click on the title of the photo of the lighthouse you would like to visit and you will be taken there where you will find photos, videos, history and directions to that location.  I sincerely hope you find my site helpful and that you enjoy your visit.  The lighthouses are listed in order from the most northeastern, including those on Campobello Island, and ending just across the southern border in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
